Over the past 15 years, Ellen has grown her studio, Local Color Flowers, into a thriving business offering wedding florals, design classes, flowers for corporate events, individual orders, and retail as well as creative social and educational community experiences – all using 100% locally grown flowers. Ellen has an extensive resume and valuable credentials including the Allan M Armitage Award for Leadership from the Association of Specialty Cut Flower Growers. She is an innovative entrepreneur and expert in the floriculture industry sought-after for teaching, business consulting, interviews, and speaking engagements both locally and nationally.
About Karen Gesa:
Karen is an owner of Midsommar Farm, a fresh-cut peony family flower farm located at the base of Short Hill Mountain in northern Virginia. Since opening the business in 2013, she has always aimed to provide flowers of unparalleled beauty and longevity. Commitment to this goal drives her to seek out the highest quality peony roots available, most of which she imported from Holland. She is proud to have earned the Certified Naturally Grown designation, which means she uses organic methods absent of harsh chemicals or synthetic fertilizers. She is also author of her successful book Peonies for Perpetual Profit.
